How does the afternoon work? Tea, coffee will be ordered…then the cakes, fancies, sandwiches will arrive.
Throughout the afternoon you will be regaled with stories of local women, funny newspaper anecdotes, passionate feisty northern political activists, scientists, writers etc…plus the seedy side of life such as criminal and fallen women or a high class street walker!
The afternoon will be entertaining and informative. It’s a great way to meet new people or catch-up with friends and colleagues.
I utilise various venues; you can join a programmed event or get in touch to discuss a bespoke afternoon for your social gathering. Event lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours.
Raucous Women’s Afternoon tea event – afternoon tea is served, your host in costume delivers tales of heroic women, business divas, science leaders, suffragettes and a few surprise “less respectful” women!
Raucous Writers Afternoon tea event – regional writers and their lives plus characters they’ve introduced whom we love and loathe.
Programmed events:
2019 dates; 1st May and February 2020 (February tickets to be released later date) at Elizabeth Gaskell House – Raucous afternoon teatime event a raucous afternoon of riotous tales about famous, infamous and downright outrageous characters from our great city – and of course home-made cake and House-blend tea or fresh filter coffee. Come along for lots of laughs, mouth-watering cake and a wealth of info about Manchester’s most interesting inhabitants, in the glorious surroundings of Elizabeth Gaskell’s House – the former home of one of the city’s most famous Victorian writers.
